What is Meditation?

Meditation has been a part of many cultures for thousands of years as a means to go beyond the mind’s busy activity into a state of tranquility and peace. The essential aspects of these timeless teachings have been maintained in their pure, original form, ensuring consistent physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. Primordial Sound Meditation is a time-tested meditation technique dating back thousands of years to the ancient Vedic traditions of India. It is a healing practice that allows us to experience inner calm and deep relaxation.

The hectic pace of modern times has resulted in excessive stress and anxiety. The pace of life has accelerated, and every day we are bombarded with more information and stimulation than our ancestors encountered during entire lifetimes. Not surprisingly, the number of people suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic health problems is on the rise — and many are searching for peace of mind. When we are able to move into a state of restful awareness where the body is relaxed and the mind is quiet but alert, we begin to experience peace of mind and a general sense of well being. As scientific research reveals, when you meditate, your breathing slows, blood pressure decreases, and stress hormone levels fall.

The meditation technique is to enable you to experience the quiet that is already there. Even when your mind is agitated with continuous thoughts, you are able to access the stillness and inner calm inside you.

Primordial Sound Meditation is not about forcing your mind to be quiet, but about experiencing the quiet that is already there. Even when your mind is filled with agitated thoughts, you still have access to the inner stillness and calm that always lies beneath the choppy surface of thought and emotion.

Even though your body is resting deeply in meditation, your mind is awake ,but quiet.  The term "restful awareness" captures the unique combination of physical relaxation and an alert yet quiet mind.

With meditation, we can develop deeper insight into our essential nature and we shift from a place of fear and anxiety to one of confidence and equanimity or balance.
