What Is Ayurveda?

With the hectic life style of the 21st century where myriad things need to be done all at once and multi-tasking is the name of the game played on a daily basis, it is very easy for one to feel anxious, frustrated, angry, depressed, or even fatigued. The life force energy (Prana in Sanskrit) that allows you to feel vibrant, happy and peaceful can get disturbed.  Your life situations and every day events can throw your sense of balance and well being off kilter.  You may realize that you are an obsessive, compulsive, thinker who is constantly dwelling on thoughts that are not nourishing or life enhancing. Your mind body system may feel imbalanced and you know that “something doesn’t feel right”.

 

What is Meditation?

Meditation has been a part of many cultures for thousands of years as a means to go beyond the mind’s busy activity into a state of tranquility and peace. The essential aspects of these timeless teachings have been maintained in their pure, original form, ensuring consistent physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. Primordial Sound Meditation is a time-tested meditation technique dating back thousands of years to the ancient Vedic traditions of India. It is a healing practice that allows us to experience inner calm and deep relaxation.

 

Meditation Research

“Participant-reported reductions in stress also were correlated with decreased gray-matter density in the amygdala, which is known to play an important role in anxiety and stress.” (Harvard Gazette)

Harvard students conducted an 8 week trial to compare if meditation really did help to relax the brain. The Harvard students were separated into two groups, one group who practiced daily meditation and one group that did not meditate.  The 16 study participants were tested 2 weeks prior to the program and 2 weeks following the completion of the program. After conducting the program the scientists concluded that meditation plays an important role in stress and anxiety and can also help increase basic memory and learning skills. Just one half hour of meditation can help to ease your mind and make you less stressful.
